1. Why Did This Biogas Holder Collapse?
On-site investigation revealed that the Double Membrane Cover had been in normal service for many years. However, due to a temporary shutdown of the biogas plant project, the air blower system had been left without power for a long time. A digester-mounted Double Membrane Cover relies on blower pressure to maintain the structural support between the inner and outer membranes. During the power outage, the pressure between the membranes gradually dropped to zero, and the gas holder completely lost its rigid support structure.
Compounding the issue, heavy rainfall led to a significant accumulation of water on the membrane surface. The sustained load from the ponding water became too heavy – the membrane could no longer hold the weight, ultimately causing the entire roof-mounted gas holder to collapse under pressure and become a total loss.
This failure was determined to be an external-force damage incident caused by the combination of system shutdown and power loss together with rainwater accumulation. A thorough technical inspection confirmed that the equipment itself had no quality issues.
2. Double Membrane Roof Replacement
The on-site operation was carried out efficiently and in an orderly manner. The team precisely dismantled the damaged gas holder, thoroughly removed aged support belts, protective safety nets, and other outdated components, ensuring a clean and standardised worksite.
A brand-new digester-mounted Double Membrane Cover was then precisely hoisted into place. The biogas storage installation proceeded with membrane sealing, system integration, gas-tightness testing, and constant-pressure commissioning.
The system passed a one-time acceptance inspection and was successfully returned to normal operation.

3. Biogas Storage Emergency Services
With years of expertise in the R&D, installation, and emergency replacement of both digester-mounted Double Membrane Covers and free-standing double membrane gas holders, Haiyue has developed comprehensive one-stop service capabilities for dismantling, replacement, and commissioning in response to various on-site issues.
These include equipment shutdowns, power outages, rainwater accumulation, ageing, and physical damage.
With rapid response and professional construction, we minimise customer downtime and ensure the safe, stable operation of biogas plant projects in the livestock, wastewater, and papermaking industries.
