Precautions for Operating a Double Membrane Gas Holder:

(1) Pressure testing must be carried out after installation
After the double membrane gas holder has been installed on site, connected with pipelines, and undergone system commissioning, a comprehensive pressure test must be conducted. During the pressure test, the overall sealing performance of the gas holder, membrane connection points, welding seams, and the operation status of auxiliary equipment should be carefully inspected.

Only when the pressure test results meet the design requirements, and the gas holder is confirmed to have no abnormal gas leakage and stable structural performance, can it be officially put into operation.

(2) Antifreeze liquid must be used in the safety water seal
Double membrane gas holders are usually equipped with a safety water seal device, which is used to regulate the internal pressure of the gas holder and ensure safe operation of the membrane structure. Suitable antifreeze liquid should be selected according to the ambient temperature of the project location, especially when the system is installed in cold regions.

The use of antifreeze liquid can effectively prevent the water seal liquid from freezing under low-temperature conditions, ensuring the normal operation of the safety water seal. It also prevents abnormal pressure changes caused by water seal failure, thereby extending the service life of the double membrane gas holder.

(3) Slight gas permeation is a normal phenomenon
Since double membrane gas holders use flexible polymer membrane materials, the membrane itself has a certain level of gas permeability. Therefore, a small amount of gas permeation during long-term operation is considered a normal phenomenon.

As long as the gas permeability of the membrane material remains within the specified range, the system can be regarded as operating normally.

During actual operation, the condition of the gas holder should be checked regularly to identify any abnormal gas leakage, damage, or aging. If any abnormal conditions are found, timely maintenance should be carried out.

Precautions for Operating a Double Membrane Gas Holder:

(4) Maintain the normal shape of the gas holder and prevent deformation or collapse
During operation, an independent double membrane gas holder should always maintain a stable spherical shape. The minimum operating pressure inside the gas holder should be maintained within the range of 500–800 Pa to ensure that both the inner and outer membranes remain under proper tension.

If the pressure is too low, the outer membrane may collapse or deform, affecting normal operation. If the pressure is too high, excessive stress may be applied to the membrane material, shortening its service life.

During rainy or snowy weather, special attention should be paid to water or snow accumulation on the top of the outer membrane. Large amounts of accumulated water or snow can increase the load on the gas holder and affect structural safety. Therefore, timely removal is required to ensure normal operation.

(5) Check the safety water seal and operating pressure daily
During the operation of the gas holder, a daily inspection system should be established. The liquid level of the inner and outer membrane safety water seals should be checked every day, and changes in gas holder pressure should be monitored.

By adjusting the pressure control system in time, excessive or insufficient internal pressure can be avoided, preventing damage to the membrane caused by abnormal stress.

(6) Electrical equipment must be protected against water and moisture
The supporting electrical equipment of the double membrane gas holder, including control cabinets, blowers, electrical wiring, and sensors, must be properly protected during installation and operation.

The installation area should avoid long-term exposure to moisture, standing water, or dusty environments. Electrical components should be inspected regularly to ensure safe and stable operation of the equipment.

For projects located in environments with flammable gases, explosion-proof electrical equipment that meets relevant safety standards should be selected to further improve system safety.
